La Santa
Overview:
Sitting on the northwest coast of Lanzarote island, the village of La Santa is a sporting wonderland, particularly good for surfing. Although La Santa has a reputation as one of the best destinations for recreational activities, this ancient fishing village retains a quaint historic charm. The narrow winding streets of this picturesque village are lined by traditional Canarian houses, and traditional fishing boats still surround the harbour. There is a handful of restaurants in the village, serving authentic island cuisine, made with locally sourced produce, while Playa La Santa beach is a must see. In La Santa, you can do as little or as much as you please. If you're interested in doing a little more than lounging in the sun during your visit, the sports club offers a host of activities from volleyball to windsurfing.

Economy
Traditionally, the village has always relied upon fishing as a source of income. However, the opening of the local sports club (Club La Santa) in 1983 have created many jobs for the locals and brought in tourists as well.
How to get there
By Bus:
Buses 16, 52 and 53 take turns to depart Arrecife for La Santa every 1-2 hours between 07:00 and 21:40 on weekdays. The frequency reduces to 8 times daily on weekends (between 08:00 to 20:30).
By Car:
Transfers to La Santa from the airport can be booked for around €40 per person. However, as these only run every two hours, it may be cheaper and easier to hire a car.
Driving from the airport, take LZ-2 towards Güime or San Bartolomé. When you are in San Bartolomé, follow LZ-20 all the way to Tinajo then turn right onto Calle La Cañada/ LZ-67 driving towards the coast. The journey should take approximately 40 minutes and thanks to the low price of petrol on the island, this trip should only cost €4 in fuel.
Activites:
La Santa is an ideal destination for people who like to stay active. The sports club offers over 80 different sports.
