On the edge of the village there is a small, rustic beach where conditions are ideal for surfing.

Activities

Surfing and windsurfing are popular in Caleta de Caballo. Strategically located between two popular surfing and windsurfing towns: La Santa and Caleta de Famara, Caleta de Caballo is a quieter option, with close proximity to both its bigger neighbours. There's a camping area just on the left end of Playa Caleta de Caballo.
Surfing
Caleta de Caballo is a prime location for surfing. Thanks to the remoteness of the beach, Caleta de Caballo is an ideal place for those new to surfing, as it attracts far fewer people than the nearby beach at La Santa. Waves in the summer hit 4ft on average, and the sea is pleasantly warm, with the temperature normally around 22 degrees. The nearest surf shop, La Santa Surf, is situated around 3 kilometres away. It offers various courses and the option to rent boards and wet suits, for those who do not wish to buy.
At Kalufa Surf School, you will find surfing, Stand Up Paddle and BodyBoard lessons for everybody from complete beginners to seasoned professionals. The school is not directly located in Caleta de Caballo, but is only a 15 minute drive away. Lessons start at €45 for one session, and the school also offers the option to rent everything from boats, boards, wetsuits and bicycles to professional photographers and cars. Conveniently, the surf school owns a surf house in Caleta de Caballo, which costs a very reasonable €30 a night to rent.
Windsurfing
Windsurfing is another popular sport in the area, and the small beach of Caleta de Caballo is the perfect place to give the sport a try. Lessons are available in the nearby Caleta de Famara.

Camping
There is a camping zone located at left end of Playa Caleta de Caballo, not far from the local residential area. The colourful tents and camper-vans dot the shoreline and campers can be seen happily swimming or catching rays on the beach. Camping is generally permitted during summer time when the coastline is calmer. Do call to check and book in advance to avoid disappointment. Permit is to be obtained from the City Council of Teguise:

Beaches

There is one small beach, not far from centre of the village.
Playa Caleta de Caballo (beach)
Located in the town centre, this small beach of 60m is also known as Playa de Mejías. Quieter than the neighbouring beaches in La Santa, the sand here is fine and white, making it the perfect place to lounge and catch some rays. Conditions at this rustic beach are also perfect for surfing and windsurfing; just be sure to keep an eye out for the dangerous rocky reefs that line the shore.

Restaurants
Choices of restaurants in Caleta de Caballo are limited. However the larger villages of La Santa or Caleta de Famara are only a short drive away.
