Many people sees Ibiza as the haven for electronic music, wild parties and beach bums. However, as you venture slightly inland or away from the main coastal strips, you will be amazed by the peacefulness and beautiful landscapes the island possesses.
You can’t say you have seen Ibiza just because you have sun-bath on one of its amazingly soft sanded beaches or that you have visited the Dart Vila fort in the city of Eivissa. A visit to Ibiza is incomplete without seeing its inland, rugged coastlines as well as remote coves. To get a real impression of what Ibiza is really about, join one of the hiking tours organised by the locals who know their island like the back of their hands.
Pine forest, citrus tree and shrub characterise hiking routes in Ibiza with beautiful wild coves and crystalline waters fringing the ruggedly-creased cliff faces. Hike up to the miradors (view points) which offer splendid views over the coastline and beautiful islets; or rappel down the sea cave illuminated by the natural light. Contrasting these are the lush green valleys featuring terraced cultivation, abandoned shepherd huts, water channels and tiny creeks.
For the historical and cultural buffs, why not check out the famous stone quarry once excavated by the Phoenicians (now a place considered magical by the hippies) to built Dart Vila and trace the “spiral of consciousness” stone stacks nearby.
