You may begin the Teide-east tour from the easier spot located on top of Arafo, or opt for the more challenging start mid-way. Either way, you will be awe-inspired by the magnificent views of Santa Cruz, the capital of the island, Puerto de la Cruz and coastline along the northern and eastern region of Tenerife island.
Approaching Mount Teide from the east means playing "hide and seek" with Teide as the clouds come and go at different heights. We will ascent the ridge and ride past the world-class Teide Astronomical Observatory at 2390 above sea level and before your eyes, the mountain reappears.
We will make a left turn at El Portillo and ride further towards the mountain. En-route you will be able to witness the Llano de Ucanca barren desert with rugged moonscape and rock formation. We will also cycle past the multi coloured-layer volcanic ash wall "la tarta", literally means the cake.
We will continue riding around the crater before making our way down to our very own cycling cafe via Vilaflor. After a delicious Canarian lunch, we will make our way back to Playa de las Americas.
