Highlights of Malta

Malta is part of the Maltese archipelago and the largest of the three islands. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea south side of Sicilia. Malta offers you a variety of different activities such as family, culture, religious, nightlife and nature events alike. The island does not have any mountains but its valleys and hilly plains are ideal for long strolls and walks. The winters are mild and of an enjoyable humidity, the summers are warm and dry, but not yet hot: perfect for all activities throughout the day.

The north and east part of Malta are well known for the many white beaches, bays and the blue water along the coastline. The oriental city center of Marsaxlokk has traditional markets, restaurants and bars as well as shopping places. There you simply can relax and enjoy a vibrant living atmosphere. The Bay of Marsaxlokk is famous for its crystal clear turquoise water. Mellieha Bay invites you for a swim and a relaxing sunbath. The mystical Valletta is capital of Malta and world cultural heritage. Breathe in the atmosphere of medieval alleys, bastions and towers of the ancient times. Valletta is the center of economy, shopping and a vibrant nightlife.

Rough cliffs, hidden bays and the highest landscapes of the island are located in the south. The Dingli-Cliff is the highest spot on Malta (253 m) and definitely worth a visit. Nature and flower fans will be pleased, when they find the 800 different plant-species of the island. Further highlights of the south: the Stone Age Temples of Mnajdra, roman catacombs and burial grounds, bastions and fortification-walls, very old villages and ports. Here you can trace back history to the very first development of human settlings of Malta.

A very special place to go to is the Popeye Village in Anchor Bay: well known for the movie Popeye, which was produced in 1970, it is rich of stunning sceneries, magical fisherman houses and a fabulous ambience. Still today many tourists are visiting the village. If you are a fanatic for sailing and boat-sports, you will love the colorful Luzzu boats, which were built according to the traditional Phoenician way.

A local specialty is the golden vermouth lemonade “Kinnie”. Very famous and delicious are the goat cheese “Gbejna” and the “Lampuki” fish. Maltese wines and olives are the best you can get around the Mediterranean.
