The walk through the Masca village and its gorge is truly amazing. There are 2 options: you can either hike down and back up again (about 6 hours in total and is only recommendeD to those with very good fitness level) or you can hike down then catch a boat that takes you to Los Gigantes.
This allows you a chance to rest, have a bite or take a quick dip in the cooling sea (if time permits) before jumping onto your water taxi to Los Gigantes. Furthermore, the giant cliffs of Los Gigantes, with some places 400m high, are best viewed from the boat.
The aforementioned is only a suggestion (typical route), feel free to plan your own hiking.

Bus 325 departing Los Gigantes at 08:20 and 17:05 towards Santiago del Teide
Bus 363 departing Puerto de la Cruz at 08:00 towards Buena Vista
Bus 355 departing Buena Vista at 09:30 to Masca (very small bus, be early and queue up fast)
Bus 460 departing Playas de las Americas 09:35 towards Santiago del Teide
Bus 355 departing Santiago del Teide at 10:35 and 11:15 to Masca
