Description:
This half-day jeep safari tour takes us on a historical journey to see where the nuns of the Santa Clara convent found a hiding from the attacks of the French corsairs, back in the 1500s century. The hiding place is called Pico dos Barcelos - now a popular tourist site - offers an amazing panorama of the bay of Funchal.
From here, we will continue and bring you through the rural roads to see the valleys and mountain views. We will also get the chance to sample some local pastry, liquors and other regional products amidst the stunning natural setting scenic mountain range and sea view.
The tour takes about 4 hours in total. We offer free transfers from Funchal and Canico area. Pick up time from Funchal centre is commences at 8:30 am (morning session) and 14:00 (afternoon session), remaining areas to be confirmed according to where you stay.
