Things to do in Costa Calma

One of the main reasons why holiday makers choose Costa Calma, apart from the long beautiful stretch of golden sandy beach, is the peaceful surrounding and tranquility. It’s a great resort to ‘get away from it all’, relax, swimming, sunbathing and perhaps, catch up with some readings.

The health conscious tourists can be seen walking, jogging and swimming in the morning before the rest of the holiday makers make their way to the sun beds after a sleep-in or brunch. Little ones build sand castle or splashing water in the sheltered part of the beach, it is a calm (as the name suggests) and relaxing resort ideal for elderlies and families.

However, this doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do here in Costa Calma. Water sport lovers will be thrilled to find out that this part of the island is a host to numerous windsurfing championship. There are many wind and kitesurfing schools around where you can learn  the sport. Other water sports like diving takes you into the beautiful underwater world of the island. Alternatively, why not venture inland on a quad bike or buggy for some stunning volcanic landscapes and desert-like routes. Less than 10km away is the Oasis Park to keep and young and not-so-young entertained.

Oasis Park

Not far away in the village La Lajita is the popular Oasis Park - a mixture of zoo and botanical garden. Featuring over 230 species of animals and birds from around the globe, a garden of Canarian native plants as well as various sort of cactuses. Children will be entertained by the various animal shows and interaction with camels. Children playground and camel riding safari is also available.
