Coral reefs, exotic sea creatures, weightless sensation... Ever wonder how it would be to dive in the ocean? Scuba diving is not as difficult as it seems if you know what you are doing. This Discovery Scuba Diving course is designed as a taster those who are curious about the sport or in the fence of whether or not to commit into an Open Water qualification.
This is how it is course is going to pan out:
Upon arrival at our dive centre, be greeted by our friendly crews with a smile and a coffee.
Our PADI qualified instructor will provide a comprehensive explanation about Scuba Diving, the use and handling of dive equipment, an introduction of the marine life in Gran Canaria, as well as the logistics of our dive of the day.
Depending on the sea conditions of the day, we typically carry out the dive at the Amadores dive site. It boasts a sheltered bay with gentle shore entry suitable for beginners. Full training will take place here for about half an hour. You will learn the basic scuba diving skills and our experienced dive instructors will gauge your readiness to make your first bubbles in the ocean. Extra time will be given if need be to ensure you are prepared and comfortable enough to make the dive.
Depending on the air consumption, the dive will last for about 40 minutes. This allows sufficient time to get acquainted with the marvellous marine creatures of Gran Canarias. With a bit of luck, we will see the Angle Sharks, a breed native to the island. At all time, you will be performing your dive in a supervised environment.
After the dive, we will bring you back to our dive centre. Enjoy some well-deserved refreshments in our cosy living room and reminisce your first dive and have a relaxing chat.
You will receive a certificate upon the completion of the Discover Scuba Diving course. Underwater photos and videos can be also be purchased. We will give you a ride back to the hotel or you may wish to spend the rest of your day exploring Playa del Inglés.
The whole experience will take about 2-3 hours. Minimum age to join this course is 10 years old. The course is available in English and Spanish.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 10 years old, a guardian's consent is required for minors
- Not available for pregnant women or those with a cold
- No alcohol is to be consumed before the course
- There will be a compulsory medical statement to be completed upon arrival. You will be required to answer questionnaires about current health truthfully and sign, or bring a recent diving ability certificate from the doctor.
