Callao Salvaje

Overview

Callao Salvaje is an emerging holiday destination which means it is still relatively small and not yet dominated by tourists. Callao Salvaje was formerly a small fishing village and the rapid development of the tourist industry has seen apartments and hotels spring up in the area. Callao Salvaje, in more recent years, has been focused on developing several luxury resorts. Souvenir shops can be found here as well as small shops, restaurants and bars. The charming resort is a good and suitable starting point for touring the island or for activities within the area.

Beaches

Away from the city center is a small, black sand beach which was less frequented. Young people enjoy the fabulous hotel pools and those who prefer the beach tend to head to Playa Paraíso’s artificial beach, just ten minuets away. There are however, plans for a new, artificial beach to be created in Callao Salvaje.

Restaurants

Good food at good prices can be found here. In addition to typical Spanish food there are also Italian and Chinese restaurants.

Nightlife

There are a number of relaxed bars in the town but for those who like to dance the whole night through, Los Cristianos or Playa de Las Américas provide a better playground. For a bigger scale party scene, check out the nearby Hard Rock Hotel for some concerts and dance events. The Children of the 80's is one of its popular dance party, held monthly from March to Dec.

Shopping

In addition to souvenir shops there are also a few supermarkets for those in self-catered apartments. There are several English and German products in the supermarkets but the prices are more expensive. Callao Salvaje is not far away from the Playa de las Américas, where you can find a large selection of shops.
