Description:
Piramides de Güímar is an ethnographic park exhibiting the studies and conservation of Güímar pyramids. It includes a pyramid complex, the Casa Chacona Museum, the auditorium, the Expeditions Room, the outdoor routes, and large garden areas.
Explore the Casa Chacona Museum and meet the different sculptures of prehistoric gods. Immerse into the history and archaeology of the expeditions and civilizations involving Güímar and other pyramids around the world. The museum also exhibits studies of Thor Heyerdahl, Piramides de Güímar’s founder.
You may watch a documentary (shown in 6 languages) discussing the ancient migrations and culture similarities parallel countries across Atlantic. It also recounts the expeditions of Heyerdahl. Annexed to the auditorium is a space dedicated to him displaying replicas of the vessels used in the said expeditions.
Wander around the gardens with more than 30 species of Canarian plants featuring two major routes – the Botanical Route which houses plant communities that are endemic to the island, and Exportation Products Route which exhibits the significance in the economy of the main Canarian products being exported since the Spanish conquest. New routes have also been created like the Cultural Route exhibiting the culture, history and ethnography of the Canary Islands, and the Volcanic Route explaining its volcanic origin.
Also, don’t miss the outdoor space displaying the Easter Island Exhibition, which explains about Rapa Nui, the most isolated inhabited island on the planet.
Be warned and informed from the unique collection of the most poisonous plant species around the world at the Poison Garden and learn to achieve the sustainability of Canarian Nature at the Sustainable Garden.
The park is open from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. It has an artisan centre with a cafetería where you can enjoy panoramic and spectacular views of the pyramids. The park is also adapted to people with reduced mobility.
