Description:
Leap into the greenery of Anaga Mountains while following the dirt paths in the hills that take you back in time and introduce you to the aborigine history of this ethnographically rich area. Starting from our meeting point at Cruz del Carmen, the trip goes meandering into the dense forests of laurel and tree heath. Cruz del Carmen sits near the villages of Las Canteras and Las Mercedes and has a gazebo, a restaurant center and visitor center. From Cruz del Carmen, we take the Las Hiedras track that leads to a stone wall and few steep steps. After ascending these steps, we descend onto the El Batan trail that leads to a newly built track to El Batan, which has buried the original path completely. Glimpses of astonishing views await you at the church square in El Batan. See the grazing trails of aboriginal Guanches and learn more about their lives after and before the Spanish Conquest in 1501.
