Golf in La Gomera
Tecina Golf
Belonging to Fred Olsen & Co, Tecina is the island’s sole course as well as being a major tourist attraction. Located off Playa Santiago, this 18-hole affair offers impossibly stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean whilst Tenerife’s Mount Teide looms in the backdrop. A labour of love, the course, which is perched upon the cliffs, was designed by Scottish golf architect Donald Steel in 2003.
Aside from its lush fairways and greens, the bunkers also contain sands imported from the Sahara. Although its wide fairways make the course perfectly manageable for non-pros, there are several fascinating challenges due to its undulating nature-if the idea of lugging your clubs uphill doesn’t appeal, you can hire an electric buggy for €15.Gold
Green fees cost €100 for 18 holes.
Address: Lomada de Tecina s/n, 38811 Playa de Santiago, La Gomera island.
