Beaches in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Belonging to the region of San Andrés, these 2 beaches are recommended and easily accessed from Santa Cruz.

Playa de las Teresitas

Playa de las Teresitas is 8km north of the city of Santa Cruz. It is popular and often lively. Children run in and out of the sea while other visitors prefer to recline in the sun’s rays, and some couples hide in nooks between the many fishing boats. The beach is ideal for everyone. Unlike other beaches on the island made up of dark volcanic material, this beach consists of golden sands. This is because Las Teresitas is an artificial beach, made by the authorities in the 1970s with 98,000 cubic metres of sand from the Sahara desert.

Playa de las Gaviotas

Nude sunbathing is accepted at this beach further north. It is small and isolated, hidden behind the mountains, and is very popular with surfers. At the southwest of the beach is San Andrés, a small fishing village, with a choice of decent restaurants.
