Description:
Gozo and Malta are like twins in some manner of speaking as an island but a closer look and a few days from each Island will show you that they have their own special features and things to offer. Gozo doesn’t have much rock and stone structure but rather it is more greenish and picturesque in some way.
After about 20 minutes of crossing, we begin the tour with a visit to a Roman Catholic Parish in the village of Gharb, known as Ta’ Pinu Basilica. The church was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu. Due to its high altitude, the church offers a sweeping view over the city and the surrounding area. We then proceed to check out the table-like rock over the sea, more famously known as the Azure Window. This awe inspiring rock structure is located near Inland Sea and Dwejra Bay, two other popular landmarks in the area. Next stop is a Craft Centre where you can see various crafts in the making and stock up some Gozo souvenirs to take home.
Victoria - the capital of Gozo - is our next destination. Its original name was Rabat. The name Victoria was granted by the British Government in conjunction with Queen Victoria's 1897's Diamond Jubilee, a request made by the Bishop of Malta. Rabat, however, is still fondly used by the locals. In the centre of the capital of Gozo is Citadella, also known as Citadel, boasting an old prison and the Courts of Justice in it, this small fortified city is another future UNESCO heritage site. We will stop for lunch in a restaurant in Rabat.
After lunch, we will take a scenic drive to Mgarr Port via Qala Belvedere before we conclude the Gozo tour and return to Malta on a ferry crossing. You will be brought back to your hotel.
