Description:
The Palmetum Botanical Garden (or Santa Cruz Palmetum) is a 12-hectare land in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, housing a collection of over 2000 tropical and sub-tropical plant species, including around 400 species of palm trees.
It was a 2-decade extraordinary project transforming a barren wasteland into a wonderful garden. Many of the palm species were collected from their original habitats, with the help of partner institutions and official expeditions around the world.
You may come to the garden during autumn, the best time to visit, since most of the palms are bearing their fruits during this season.
Aside from wandering around the landscapes to marvel and learn about the palms, don’t miss the chance to witness the spectacular views of the city, the sea, and the mountains from viewpoints of the hills where the garden it located.
The garden is open all days of the year including Sundays and holidays from 10:00am to 6:00pm (gates closed at 5:00pm). Guides in Spanish, English, German, and other Languages are available at an additional cost.
