Description:
Nestled in gorgeous settings, Taborno is one of the oldest villages in the Anaga Mountains. With traditional Canarian architecture at display, this place hides high ethnographical value. Cave houses, huts and barns are a common site, while the traditional ways of aboriginal natives can still be found among locals. Sitting near Afur, this place features several amazing viewpoints with astonishing views of the magnificent north coast of the Anaga Mountains. We start from Cruz del Carmen for this tour and take the hilly terrain towards the hamlet of Taborno. Going past several grazing trails in the region, we head for a memorable experience in the mysteriously dense forests of the region.
Participants will learn about the Guanches and discover their traditional ways. Taste the traditional milk cheese on the tour and see how it is prepared. A display of Salto del Pastor, a technique championed by shepherds to leap across difficult terrains using only a long wooden pole, also forms part of this hiking trip.
