Any type of cuisine you crave for can be accommodated in Puerto del Carmen, they include: traditional Spanish, Chinese, Indian, English, Polish, Irish, Italian, African and even McDonalds. There is something for even the fussiest of eaters. So forget about all inclusive, sample the array of cuisines available. Most restaurants in Puerto del Carmen congregate along the beach promenade of the resort on Avenida de las Playas, providing you the best views of the sea while you dine.

Restaurante La Cañada

This restaurant serve tapas, Canarian and international dishes, with grilled meats and fish being very popular amongst its clientele. Accompany the deliciously prepared meals with local Malvasía wines before attempting the desserts on offer.

Restaurante Casa Cabaña

Located in the old part of Puerto del Carmen, this restaurant serves different types of European dishes, including a variety of vegetarian and coeliac friendly options. Their main dishes include Beef Wellington, Calves Liver and Bacon, Cabaña chicken, and Cheesy Fillet and Black Pudding Stack. The Brit-run restaurant also offers a great selection of desserts such as Ginger Bailey, sticky toffee pudding, apple pie and white chocolate cheesecake. Average Prices: Starters €5 - €6.50, Mains €12 - 16, Desert €6.50.

Double 6 Fish and Chips

Double 6 is the only fish and chip shop in the old part of town. Reasonably priced you can get a large fish and chips, mushy peas, tea, bread and butter from €6.95. Sit outside and enjoy the sunshine or take away with you to enjoy at the beach or in the comfort of your hotel. Every customer has to roll a pair of dice, and if you’re lucky enough to roll a double six you dine for free.

Restaurante Puerto Bahia

Restaurant Puerto Bahia is located near the old harbour area with excellent sea view. It serves fresh fish, paella, tapas as well as some English dishes.

Nightlife:

The resort is the best place on the island for nightlife, and offers a whole host of bars, clubs and disco with cocktails and drinks. Whether you prefer to relax with a sangria in a quiet bar, or to dance to the sounds of Reggaeton, Euro hits, hip-hop or house, there is something to suit everyone. Avenida de las Playa with its whole range of restaurants and bars is a perfect place to start the night while Centro Commercials (Commercial Centres/ Shopping Centres) are also good places for drinks and dance.

There are several fiestas and events held throughout the year in Puerto del Carmen. The most important being Fiesta del Carmen

Fiesta del Carmen

This festival is held in honour of the town’s patron saint of the same name. Held in mid July, it is a feast of traditional music, brightly coloured authentic costumes, singing and dancing. The signal of the end of the festival is a beautiful display of brightly coloured and lavishly decorated fishing boats being sent out to sea. The folklore ritual symbolises the locals praying for a good catch in the coming year, and this tradition has continued for several generations.
