Beaches in Puerto del Carmen
Puerto del Carmen is lucky enough to have over 6km of long golden sandy beaches, perfect for a beach holiday. Starting from the northern side of the resort is the Playa Matagorda beach, followed by Playa de Los Pocillos, Playa de Barranquillo, Playa Grande and Playa Chica.

Playa Matagorda (beach)
Playa Matagorda is located at the northernmost area of the resort- Matagorda. The long golden sand beach stretches from Hotel Beatriz Playa & Spa to Hotel Jameos Playa and is awarded blue flag for its cleanliness and water quality. A pleasant promenade can be found here along with the many sun beds, beach umbrellas and beach facilities. The windy condition on this side of the resort makes it a favourite hot spot for windsurfers.
Playa de Los Pocillos (beach)
Surrounded by hotels, apartments buildings and a nice promenade, Playa de Los Pocillos is the second largest beach located to the south of Playa Matagorda. Showers, shops, restaurants and bars are available at this beach with sun beds available for rent, so if you would like to lie on one arrive early before the rush. The beach is over 1km long and popular with wind surfers due to good conditions.
Playa de Barranquillo (beach)
Playa de Barrabquillo is a small swimming bay located between Playa de Los Pocillos and Playa Grande. Though not as popular as the two bigger sisters, it has calm water and quieter ambience.

Playa Grande (beach)
Playa Grande is the most popular (and most touristy) stretch of golden sand beach in Puerto del Carmen. This blue flag beach of over 1km is complete with beach amenities, life guards and beach sports facilities. The beach is calm and less windy than its counterparts on the northeast side and therefore is ideal for families with children. The beachfront promenade is lined with cafes, bars, restaurants and shops, making it the liveliest spot of the resort.
Playa Chica (beach)
Playa Chica is located close to the old part of Puerto del Carmen. It is the smallest of the beaches and has very calm waters due to its geographical location. There are no sun beds on this beach but it is calm, quaint and quiet- great for swimming and snorkelling, especially for children.
