Description:
The northern part of Lanzarote offers awe-inspiring landscapes, viewpoints and is also home to several César Manrique's legacies.
Our guided coach tour begins as we pass through Teguise, once the capital of Lanzarote, before arriving at Peñas del Chache. Perching at 671m above sea level, this is the highest point of Lanzarote which offers a magnificent view over the northeastern coast of Lanzarote and Haria - home to the valley of the thousand palms.
We will make a stop at Mirador del Río. Designed and built by the island's beloved artists César Manrique, this impressive viewpoint is reconstructed from an old artillery post (Bateria del Rio) by carving into the cliff-edge. It offers stunning views over the Chinijo Islands of La Graciosa, Montaña Clara and Alegranza.
For lunch, we will stop at a small fishing hamlet for delicious lunch. Next, we proceed to Jameos del Agua, another legacy of Cesar Manrique. Here you will find the habitat to the blind albino crabs, endemic to the island. The area also features subterranean gardens and impressive auditorium designed Manrique. There's also a Volcanic museum where you can learn about the volcano activity and history of the island.
We conclude the tour with a visit to the César Manrique Foundation. Using his innovative and avant-guard architecture technique, Cesar Manrique had designed his living space inside of five large volcanic bubbles produced by the 18th-century eruptions. You will also see a collection of his artworks and architectural designs.
Guests will then be brought back to the initial pickup point at around 17:00.
