Description:
This mountain bike tour is rated medium and might take place in the north, the centre or south of the Lanzarote island, subject to the weather forecast and conditions of the day. Depending on the skill levels of the group and how long we stop at each sight, the tours take around 45km and approximately 4 hours to complete. We aim to go in a group for which we will try to adapt to the level and availability of all our clients who would like to join.
Below are some of the possible MTB routes in Lanzarote:
North: Costa Teguise, where one of our bike centres is located, is a great place to start any road bike or mountain excursions. Challenging uphill ride towards Tabayesco is a great training and you will be rewarded with the stunning views when you make it to the Mirador del Rio viewpoint.
Centre: Teguise, though small in size, is packed with centuries-old churches, monuments, museums and typical Canarian houses. It allows a glimpse into the glorious past of this former capital of Lanzarote. We will ride from one township to another, crossing fields, and have thrilling ascents and descents in the remote areas.
There are also family-friendly routes available along the southeast coast of where you can paddle along scenic seafront linking various resort towns such as Arrecife, Playa Honda, Puerto del Carmen and Puerto Calero.
South: Timanfaya national park is one of the most visited sights in Lanzarote, boasting a variety of stunning landscapes for your mountain bike tour. We will ride pass lava fields, black stones, and pale brown and yellow ocher area as we approach the coastline. Before you know it, the landscape changes once again, this time, into a mixed dunes-like terrain reaching towards the sea.
This is a truly unique and memorable mountain biking journey to be had. There will be an opportunity to stop for a break, for photos, and to enjoy the beautiful views and the surroundings.
