Description:
After picking up from Corralejo, Nuevo Horizonte and Caleta de Fuste in the north (from 07:30 clock) we venture south to our gathering point for a briefing session. We begin our journey on dirt roads towards the direction of Cofete, entering the protected natural park through mountains. This area forms part of the Jandía peninsular - a result of volcanic activities which took place about 16 million years ago. We will make a stop at a viewpoint to admire the impressive panorama of the beautiful sandy beach of Cofete which stretches for miles.
We then continue our journey in search for cactus. You will get to inspect a number of species which can only be found on the island. Further along at the foothills of Mount Jandía, we arrive at the Winter Villa. You will hear some fascinating facts and stories about this mysterious mansion. Its owner is believed to have had secret deals with Franco and Hitler, and the place was once used as a hiding place for the escaped Nazi war criminals.
If the weather is good, we will stop at a close by a sheltered bay for a swim. You will probably be feeling hungry by now, we stop at the El Puertito village for a Canarian meal in a local restaurant.
Driving along, we reach the antique lighthouse Punta Jandía, marking the south most tip of Fuerteventura. We will head for the “la colina del amor” for an impressive view of the island from a different angle.
We end our jeep safari journey at Jandía with participants brought back to their respective areas in the north.
Please note that pick up time will be from 07:30 am starting from Corralejo then towards Nuevo Horizonte and Caleta de Fuste.
Please bring:
- In summer please bring swimsuit, in winter please wear warm coat/ jacket.
