Sights and Attractions in Caleta de Fuste
Sights
Near the harbour of Caleta de Fuste, stand proud a landmark building- the El Castillo fort. Walking along the beach promenade is another way to see what the resort has in store for you. For a change in scenery, head a few kilometres south of the resort, you will be rewarded with the beautiful Salinas de Carmen salt fields and a giant whale skeleton!
El Castillo (the Castle)
The main attraction of Caleta de Fuste - the El Castillo fort can be found near the harbour. Built in 1741 to defend against pirates, this round tower is now part of the Barceló Club El Castillo bungalow complex. From here young children and family will have the chance to go on a camel ride.
The fort marks the beginning of the large sandy Playa del Castillo beach. This calm and sheltered beach is ideal for family holidays. There's a wide selection of water and beach activities to keep everyone entertained.
Salinas del Carmen (Salt Fields)
Salinas del Carmen salt fields are located a few kilometres south of Caleta de Fuste. There is also the Salt Museum (Museo de la Sal) where you can find out more about the history of salt, how it is extracted, and its wide range of uses. Next to the salt fields, stands a giant minke whale skeleton of 18.5 metres, as if keeping watch over the salt fields.

Museums
There is no museum in Caleta de Fuste's immediate surrounding. Museo de la Sal (Salt Museum) is only a few kilometres south of the resort, however.
Museo de la Sal (Salt Museum)
The Salt Museum is located about 5km south of Caleta de Fuste, in the Las Salinas area. It is at the premises of the Salinas del Carmen where salt is produced. Built in 1910, you can see how salt is extracted and appreciate the culture and the history of it.
