Well, if you are after the typical comfortable yet boring tour with "convoy" of jeeps that take you to soul-less touristy places on Madeira, then this is not for you. This tour is run by relaxed (but responsible) and certified local guides that want you to fall in love with their island, just like they did. Hop on their classic jeep - yes, that kind which is open-top, no air conditioning, nothing is automatic, and noisy... but lots of fun!
The tour is not run so you can check off as many tourist items on your list, the hope is to show you the side of Madeira not many tourists have seen. Plus they are really good at looking after thirsty travellers!
Departing Funchal, we head west towards the direction of Câmara de lobos - a quaint fishing about 10km west of the capital city. From there, we make a climb up to Boca Dos Namorados for an impressive view of the Nun Valley, paved with lush green vegetation dotted with traditional houses. En route we will drive up ancient cobble stone streets, passing numerous vineyards, banana, nuts and cherries plantations around the Jardim da Serra village.
We will also make a stop in a local spot for a drink.
