A tour of the three cities means visiting the cities of Cospicua, Vittoriosa and Senglea and getting to know each city. The first part of the tour includes seeing the largest of the three cities- Cospicua. The place is also known as Citta' Cottonera which most people often attributes to the entire region.
Passing Cospicua will lead you to Vittoriosa. The city of Vittoriosa is known for being flocked with military and maritime activities in the past due to its strategic position. The place used to be the capital of Malta because of its strategic harbour. Anyone who gets hold of the Grand Harbour in Vittoriosa can control the entire island. This has changed though after Valletta became the capital of Malta.
We then check out the city of Senglea or commonly referred to as Civitas Invicta. The city became popular after resisting against the Ottoman invasion during the 1565 Great Siege. Claude De La Sengle named the place as Senglea, after his name since he was the one who built it. Senglea used to be connected to Cospicua via a land bridge, an assembly that gave it a look of a peninsula. The land bridge was said to be used by people to cross from Senglea to Cospicua during the time of the Knights of St. John. On this tour, you will get to experience the historical and old churches and old-fashioned buildings as you wander along the narrow streets of these cities.
Our next highlight of the tour is wine tasting at the famous Marsovin Cellars in Marsa. The cellars offer the best tasting wine made of grapes in the area. While on tour, you will be introduced to some original wine making artefacts and also get to understand how the grape wine is being processed and produced by the locals. The cellar is 400 years old and the “Ageing Cellar” is considered as one of Malta’s heritage. You can try the wine they produced here from one of its bars called the Marsovin wine bar. Wine tasting will be held by knowledgeable staff and accompanied with different local delicacies such as Maltese bread and cheese. If you want to take home some local Marsovin wines, you can buy them there.
