Malta's Scenic Bus Tour highlights: Palazzo Parisio, Clapham Junction, Dingli cliffs & Buskett Gardens
Malta is not all about rocks and old stone structures because in the centre of Naxxar is an impressive palace. The 18th century Palazzo Parisio will show you how the royal way that the nobles of Malta lived their life. Once inside the palace, tap your feet and imagine how the grand Ballroom once was. The palace also boasts an old family chapel, walled Gardens and Organery.
The tour continues to Misrah Ghar il-Kbir, or more well-known as Clapham Junction. The area is covered by a network of "tracks" which looked as though they were carved-in by cart onto rocks. There is no indication that these rock formations relate to Malta's ancient megalithic stone structures, and the age and purposes of the "cart ruts" are still a mystery today. You will be left puzzled after the visit.
Next stop is Buskett Gardens – a place to see especially during spring and summer. The gardens nestle neatly in the fertile valley of Wied il-Luq, Siggiewi. These gardens make a nice place for a walk all year round. Near the border of the Buskett Gardens is the Verdala Palace - the official residence of Malta’s President. We will end the tour with a coffee break where you will get to sip coffee prepared by the locals while sampling 'Pastizzi' – a local favourite and especial delicacy.
Before concluding the tour, we drive to Dingli Cliffs, the highest point of Malta featuring a standalone 17th century old Chapel. The Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene serves as a landmark for the Dingli Cliff and offers the best panoramic view of the beautiful landscapes around. On a clear day, the islet of Filfla can also be witnessed from up here.
During the tour, there will be an opportunity to check out the interior of Malta's vintage bus - a rare antique vehicle to spot nowadays in Malta.
