Description:
We will head south towards the southern coast of Malta to see the Blue Grotto – a series of sea caverns where awesome shades of blue can be witnessed at a specific time of the day. The Blue Grotto can be found just west of the Wied iz-Zurrieq harbour, right across from the remote Filfla islet. The mesmerising colours of Blue Grotto waters are best observed daily between sunrise and 1pm. The unique sighting is created by the sunlight as it hits the water inside the cave, reflecting hues of blue in the process. Often times, the shade also reflect the underwater flora which produces brilliant phosphorescent colours. Weather permitting, one can enjoy a 20-minute boat ride to get close to the Blue Grotto caves (additional fee applies).
Next stop is the market of Marsaxlokk where fresh fish and seafood are available sale. Other local products such as freshly collected local honey, jams made from fruits, vegetables and souvenirs. You will have some time to wonder around this beautiful and peaceful fishing village with colourful traditional fishing boats dotting its waters.
