Description:

"If your photographs aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough" - Robert Capa once said. And this, coupled with his boundless empathy, have made him one of the most prominent battle and warfare photographers in the history.

Born on October 22, 1913, Robert Capa was born as André Friedman in Hungary in a Jewish family. Regarded as the unique visual storyteller through images, his works from a number wars in the 20th century can be seen during your visit, these include the Spanish Civil War in 1936, the Second Sino-Japanese War, the World War II, the First Arab-Israeli War, and the First Indochina War. Capa portrays the war scenes from the perspective of an observer with endless compassion. And this is what characterises his images, captured up-close of soldiers and partisans at war, both in everyday life and during the battles.

Today, this Budapest photography centre endeavours to showcase and support the best modern contemporary work from the country and around the world. Temporary exhibitions rotate regularly to promote the up-and-coming new talents.
