Join the 2-hour Jewish Heritage Essential Tour and learn more about the Jewish heritage while wandering around Budapest’s sights and attractions. With the help of English-speaking local guides, you will be acquainted with the most important chapters of the history and culture of the Hungarian Jewry.
As we wonder down streets of once known as the Pest Jewish Quarter on the Pest side of Budapest, we will come across the Rumbach street Synagogue get to marvel at the exterior of the architecture from the outside. Our guide will then lead you to the highlight of the tour - Dohány Street Synagogue. This Neolog Judaism centre is the largest synagogue in Europe, and the second largest in the world. We will spend some time inside of this majestic "house of prayer" and you will also be getting a guided tour of the Jewish Museum, which boasts a significant and unique collection of art pieces of Hungarian Jewish heritage.
After the synagogue we visit the Martyrs’ Cemetery (Holocaust Memorial Park) where thousands of people who were killed during the World War II were buried. We continue the tour in The Raul Wallenberg Memorial Park with the Tree of Life which was created to remind us of those who perished in the war.
Should you have some spare time after the tour, you may want to visit Jewish Quarter Exhibition in the Goldmark Hall and the Family Research Center.
