Description:
Celebrate the holiday spirit of Christmas as you experience Hungary’s exquisite and world-class harmony from the country’s best concert performers. The chamber concert includes the unique elements of the classical orchestra, Hungarian folk, operetta and ballet performance.
Taking place at the stunning neo-barque Danube Palace theatre, you will experience Hungary’s exquisite and world-class harmony from the country’s best concert performers. This Budapest Christmas Chamber concert showcases one of the most famous Hungarian classical music ensembles, the Danube Symphony Orchestra, lead by András Deák and occasionally other well-known conductors from Hungary or abroad.
Listen to pieces composed especially for this event and several other works by the famous composers such as Mozart, Liszt or Gershwin. Accompanying the grand symphonic orchestra is the country’s traditional stringed instrument called the Cimbalom (hammer dulcimer). Primarily played with beaters, Cimbalom adds not only a special sound to the concerts, but also a Hungarian touch, not available elsewhere. For classical music lovers, the Danube Symphony Orchestra is an experience one should not miss while in Budapest.
The concert starts at 17:00 and 20:00. It consists of two parts, 30-35 minutes each, with an intermission. Guests are requested to arrive 30 minutes before the start at the Danube Palace (Budapest H-1051, Zrínyi Street 5). There will be a board with the tour’s name outside and a person to greet you.
Optional dinner cruise and late dinner cruise on the Danube river is available at 19:00 and 22:00, following the concert.
